Faculty Development Day
November 11, 2015
On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, the Department of Anesthesia and Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto convened a joint Faculty Development Day event for the first time. This event expanded upon previous Faculty Development Day events, creating new opportunities for both departments.
A format similar to the annual Shields Research Day and Gallie Research Days was followed – mixing work, social networking, and a bit of pleasure. In past years, Anesthesia has hosted over 100 participants and we anticipate that the event will continue to grow in size and breadth given the collaboration between the two departments. Dr. Brian Hodges delivered the keynote address. Eleven interactive workshops - led by leaders in the fields of faculty development or professional development - were offered, The focus was on engaging in discussion with regards to common challenges in anesthesia and surgery education rather than simple educational theory.
