Abstract Submission Guidelines
Abstract Submission Deadline: September 28, 2012
Goals:
- To inform Anesthesia faculty and fellows of current and future projects within the UT Department of Anesthesia involving professional development and creative professional activities
- To provide an opportunity for faculty members, fellows and residents involved in projects in the above mentioned areas to obtain constructive feedback from the broader anesthesia community
- To promote future projects and research in education, professional development and creative professional activities.
Oral Presentations:
- The top 5 abstracts submitted will be chosen for oral presentation. You will be notified via email in advance of the meeting whether your abstract has been selected for oral presentation.
- Oral presentations will be a maximum of 10 minutes long (6 minutes to present, 6 slides maximum, plus 4 min Q&A)
- Submissions not chosen for oral presentation will be encouraged to display as a poster. They can also be resubmitted for oral presentation in the following year
Projects suitable for submission (include but not limited to):
- Projects in education (undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing medical education, inter-professional education)
- Projects in faculty development: clinical protocols or pathways, practice reviews or surveys
- Innovations in teaching: lectures, group, web-based, etc.
- Research in education or professional development
- Patient safety and/or communications
- Projects in simulation
Selection Criteria: Submissions will be chosen for oral (vs. poster) presentation and one oral presentation will be selected as the Best Oral Presentation based on the following criteria:
- Project outline, including goals and objectives
- Innovation
- Project development (including ,where applicable, a needs assessment)
- Potential benefits
- Method of evaluation of outcome
