Karen Leslie, MD, FRCPC MEd is an Associate Professor of Paediatrics in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children. She recently became the Director of the Centre for Faculty Development at St. Michael’s Hospital, Faculty of Medicine. She is a clinician-educator, involved in many levels of educational development and evaluation. Her scholarly interests are in the areas of career development and mentoring in academia.

The Evolution and Role of Journals in Continuing Medical Education
Dr. Miller is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa, and staff anesthesiologist at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr Miller obtained his medical degree from Queen's University in 1980. Following an internship in internal medicine at Queen's, he pursued residency training in anesthesia at the University of Ottawa (1984), followed by a cardiovascular fellowship at University of Toronto in 1986. He subsequently returned to Ottawa where he assumed a full-time faculty appointment in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Ottawa. During the following years, he developed his clinical focus in cardiovascular anesthesiafor non-cardiac surgery at The Ottawa Hospital, and research interests in clinical pharmacology.
In 2005, Dr. Miller became the fifth Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia. He set the direction for expanded content and special features during this sixth decade of the CJA. He has also ensured that the CJA has continued to evolve as a leading international journal of clinical anesthesia, peri-operative medicine and continuing medical education. The vision remains: "excellence in clinically related research and knowledge."
